Direct responsibility for effectiveness of information architects, visual designers, prototypers, editorial, style guide and usability specialists. Responsible for project-wide information architecture and user-interface design including competitive analysis, sitemap/navigation development and extensive IA and wireframing. Regular presentation of site functionality, UI and design to business sponsors and executives. Guided and worked with 35-member interdisciplinary team through exacting and exhaustive BRD-to-SDS project life cycle; from requirement origination to wireframing to design and style guide, usability testing and technical spec delivery.
Mark Phelps has been an incredible asset to both the Roth Conversion Evaluator and the FPRA Illustrator projects. In addition to contributing great designs, he adds value in many other ways. He has a strong business sense, works great with both the business and with the development team, and continues to amaze the entire team with how quickly he can produce quality deliverables. After a meeting today, the key business stakeholder for the FPRA deliverable pulled me aside to comment on how much he enjoys working with Mark. Thanks for providing such a great resource! [In a letter to the contracting firm]
-- J. Colantino, Director Planning Tool Development, Fidelity Investments
Fidelity Investments engaged Mark Phelps in early 2007 to lead a diverse team in the architecture, design, copywriting, prototyping and UX testing of a very large HR services site redesign. As the project ramped-up, Mark was instrumental in guiding the combined designer, business-owner and development teams through requirements development, system requirements analysis and system delivery specifications. Mark worked closely with business executives, SMEs and developers to design and implement site architecture and cutting-edge customer tools that would represent industry first-to-market ease-of-navigation, usability and interactive service provision. Over 13 months, the ten-plus member design team worked seamlessly under Mark's direction to successfully manage daily business owner involvement and rapidly turn around wireframes and designs; then prototype and UX-review critical pages, architecture and functionality in this multi-million dollar, 450+ page, aggressively budgeted and deadline-driven redesign project.
Since the completion of the design phase of the HRS project, Mark has continued to work with Fidelity on a variety of programs, most recently as a business communications consultant working with a team of technical and design staff to redesign content for a highly-visible intranet portal for Fidelity Independent Trustee Board Meetings. After a late 2008 beta site rollout, Mark's direction was integral in establishing and maintaining templates and portal formatting guidelines as well as informing, educating and coaching the many Board Meeting content producers and reviewers in the transition from a paper-based system to the new web-based medium. Mark worked side-by-side, document-to-document with high-level authors and executives to ensure that new formatting guidelines were understood, implemented and retained for future Board Meeting content development. Mark's contribution to the process in this tight-deadline, high-pressure environment was key to March's successful, first 100%-portalized full Board Meeting with more than 80 separate Trustee-level documents converted, formatted, reviewed and posted.
In the more than two years that Mark has worked with Fidelity Investments, he has provided energetic, proactive leadership with diligent, conscientious project and team direction. All while working closely with business-owners, development teams and Fidelity management to ensure that the best possible product is delivered in the shortest possible timeframe, all within budgetary and resource restrictions. Mark's management style identifies a project's potential tactical roadblocks and efficiency bottlenecks early, and with his "hands-on" leadership he has shown time and again that he's happy to dive-in with team members to ensure that critical IA, design or UX deadlines are met.

In-country international business development and UK market entry field-level research for US's largest outsourced affiliate marketing management firm. Subsequent engagement included executive and investor-level business plan research, contribution and writing.
With their strong knowledge of affiliate marketing and expansive ecommerce industry experience in both the US and UK marketplaces, we engaged CourseCorrect to conduct in-country business development and market-expansion research. After a week meeting with more than fifteen high-level British and European affiliate marketing executives, the market's biggest players, CourseCorrect returned with a comprehensive report of management insights, a review of the competitive environment, a cost/benefit analysis and a sound recommendation for European expansion; along with potentially unseen market opportunities, valuable target niche and competitor-specific details and a listing of market-introduction challenges and hazards.
Impressed with the UK-market research findings, we immediately re-engaged CourseCorrect to rewrite the firm's executive-level business plan for potential financing and strategic planning. After interviewing management and reviewing current company documentation and plans, CourseCorrect compiled the findings, insights and it's keen understanding of the affiliate customer and competitive marketplace with my vision for company growth and produced a document that we were able to immediately and successfully use for an important upcoming investor meeting. -- L. Ned Miller Associates
Website and logo creation for a regional personal lines insurance agency based in Connecticut
I would like to thank CourseCorrect for the fine effort given in creating our web site. Working with you was a pleasure and the final result was even more than I had envisioned. The logo is perfect. The colors in the logo and in the body of the site are vivid enough to create interest, but are not overpowering. With so many businesses on the Internet today, it is imperative to have a site that embodies the goals and message of the Agency and what you have created does. Again, thank you for a job well done.
